Reiki Healing

Reiki is a Japanese healing practice that helps reduce stress to promote relaxation and healing by using the practitioner as a conduit for universal life energy to flow through. While there are many forms of energy healing and reiki, the specific form I use is Usui Reiki, which was discovered and developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922, There are many stories surrounding the “discovery” of reiki and Dr. Usui’s life and how reiki was brought to the West, some true some false, all leading to the same thing. Reiki is both spiritual and physically healing.

While we cannot diagnose using reiki, it can be used to read the energy in your body and help you clear energetic blocks that can cause physical disruptions within the body. Reiki can help to reduce stress and improve your overall wellbeing.

During an in-person session, you can expect to lay down on a table (fully clothed) and relax as I gently guide reiki energy through your body. This is typically done by laying hands upon the body but can also be done hands hovering just above the body. During the session you may experience temperature changes where hands are placed (warm or cold) or a buzzing feeling. Clients have shared having visions, but everyone’s experience is different.

Reiki sessions can also be done over distances, Dr. Usui was very fond of providing reiki this way, where he would have his clients lay down in another room while he sent them Reiki healing (Frank Arjava Petter, The Spirit of Reiki pg167). During Distance healing session, the client is asked to lay or sit in a comfortable position while the practitioner sends them healing. This can be done with a photo, over the phone, through Zoom (thank you technology) or simple concentrating on the client using a surrogate.

Reiki Principles

Just for today, I will let go of anger.

Just for today, I will let go of worry.

Today, I will count my many blessings.

Today, I will do my work honestly.

Today, I will be kind to every living creature.

— Mikao Usui
